Weight Loss Progress – Week 8

I started this year weighing 220.0 pounds (15 stone 10.0 pounds, 99.8 kg). Last week, I weighed 212.6 pounds (15 stone 2.6 pounds, 96.4 kg) and it hasn’t changed! Total weight loss so far is 7.4 pounds or 3.4 kg.

My original waist measurement was 45″, last week it was 41.0″, this week it is still 41.0″ . That was a loss from my waist last week of absolutely zilch and still a total loss so far of 4.0″ (all rounded to nearest half inch).

I did two sessions on my exercise bike (one 47 minutes steady, one 46 minutes steady) and a 41 mile road bike ride with quite a lot of hills.

My week’s worth of ‘treats’ (i.e. not strictly healthy food and drink) were – one sugar in my one coffee, and a couple of squares of chocolate.

I might as well just quote last week’s comment here:

So, what went wrong – why the sudden loss of progress? Well, the truth is that I cracked and I had a few consecutive nights of beer drinking at the end of last week and running into the start of this one. I went way over my alcohol quota again this week and by the time I got a grip on myself, I could tell that my waistline had got bigger and the scales confirmed it.

Verdict on week – I really let myself down by putting on weight at the start of the week. I then had to fight to get it back off again.

A second bad week, but at least it isn’t a mystery… If I drink alcohol and don’t exercise – I get fat. If I drink more than about 6 beers a week and exercise, my weight remains roughly constant. If I drink 6 beers a week and exercise, I lose about a pound a week. If I don’t drink alcohol at all and exercise, I lose 1.5+ pounds a week. I think that there is a message in there somewhere…
