Weight Loss Progress – Week 3

I started this year weighing 220.0 pounds (15 stone 10.0 pounds, 99.8 kg). Last week, I weighed 217.3 pounds (15 stone 7.3 pounds, 98.6 kg). This week, I weigh 216.7 pounds (15 stone 6.7 pounds, 98.3 kg). That’s a loss last week of 0.6 pounds, or 0.3 kg. Total weight loss so far is 3.3 pounds or 1.5 kg.

My original waist measurement was 45″ – this week it is 43.5″. Total loss from waist – 1.5″. I might be kidding myself, but I think I can already see the difference in these weekly photographs. I can certainly feel that my waist is noticeably less wobbly!

I thought I’d been for a walk this week but to my surprise, when I checked, the last one was Sunday 18th and that was counted last week. I finally went out on my road bike and did a couple of hours on the hills, but about 20 minutes or so of that was spent taking photographs. I did one 45 minute exercise bike session. I was supposed to be doing a nice long walk today, but a misunderstanding led to that being cancelled. I should really have either gone out on my road bike or done another indoor session but I have been doing some background work for this blog which distracted me. I can tell that I’ve been too sedentary this week. I’ll make up for it next week. One thing that I’ve done is to oil my exercise bike – I’ve been reluctant to use it in the evenings because it was making too much noise. It’s really quiet now.

It was my 53rd birthday this week and I’ve decided not to be too hard on myself. I went out for a curry on my birthday so that was my one junk/treat meal for the week and I didn’t pig-out the way I used to. I had a vegetable masala with rice, only one poppadom (nobody seems to agree how to spell that word!) and I shared onion bhajis and a garlic naan bread rather than eating the whole lot alone. Apart from that treat, this week I also had two tiny pieces of cake. I drank 5 of the 6 beers I am allowing myself per week. Unfortunately, I also had another 5 on my birthday – what the heck – you’re only 53 once! So, 4 too many beers this week.

Overall verdict – not a great week, but not too bad for a birthday week. I resisted temptations pretty well, apart from the birthday beers. I need to do more cycling but at least I got started again.
