Generally speaking though, I avoid going out when it is icy if I can! I'm going to be buying a new pair of walking boots soon and I toyed with the idea of fixing some screws into the soles of my old ones to give me some grip on ice. Only trouble is - those boots leak, which is why I'm buying new ones! I suppose I could wear my Sealskinz with them. Hmm, I might try that when I have to walk to the shops in icy conditions.
