		<description>Hmm, I might try that when I have to walk to the shops in icy conditions. Generally speaking though, I avoid going out when it is icy if I can!

I&#039;m going to be buying a new pair of walking boots soon and I toyed with the idea of fixing some screws into the soles of my old ones to give me some grip on ice. Only trouble is - those boots leak, which is why I&#039;m buying new ones! I suppose I could wear my Sealskinz with them.</description>

		<description>an old trick i learned in the army....a pair of socks on the outside of the boot will give you grip on snow and ice. as long as you get them on over the ball of your foot, they will not come off.</description>
