Stroll – Heptonstall, Lee Wood

I wanted to get out of the house for an hour so I accompanied Lisa up the hill to Heptonstall on her walking commute to work.

Working from home, trying to make money online can be a lonely and depressing activity so it is good to take a break from it when I can.

I had intended to just walk straight back down the hill again, but once I was up there, I decided to take a slightly longer route home, and not my usual one via the quarry.

Instead, I took the bridleway down from the village towards Midgehole. It would have been nice to have gone down to The Blue Pig and returned via the Salem riverside walk but I did have work to do, so I took a shortcut back through the wood to the little cobbled path which descends to the old bridge over Hebden Water by the cricket/archery club. From there, it was just a few minutes walk home.

I was back home with the kettle on, only 55 minutes after setting off, just under 2 miles walked with 550 ft of ascent – a nice little stroll which energised me for another stint on the computer.
