Stations walks

I hadn’t had the chance to get any walks or rides in the past few days because I’ve been away visiting my frail and poorly mother. Hopefully she will be okay, but I’m not sure she will be. It’s a worrying time…

It’s a reminder to make the most of the short time we have on Earth and I haven’t really been doing that for the past few years. Not only has middle-aged spread been, er, spreading, but my attitudes are changing for the worse and I don’t want to become an embittered, fat, old man. I need to get a grip on myself soon before the rot really sets in. I want to be like the cheery old walkers and cyclists I encounter on my walks and rides. Sure, we all slow down and eventually weaken, but we don’t have to speed up the process!

Anyway… At least I managed to get a couple of miles of power-walking in today, carrying my rucksack to Coventry station and then back from Hebden Bridge station. It felt good to get my legs working again.

All being well, I’ll be doing a fun CycleChat ride in the Forest of Bowland on Sunday and I’m looking forward to that.
