Progress Report – Week 47

I didn’t lose any weight last week, but I only got one bike ride in so I’m not really surprised. I did a decent ride yesterday and feel much better than I have for the past few weeks so I feel ready to make a big effort on the run up to Christmas

Oh, well… I started this year weighing 220.0 pounds (15 stone 10.0 pounds, 99.8 kg). I now weigh 204.0 pounds (14 stone 8.0 pounds, 92.5 kg). Total weight loss so far is 16.0 pounds or 7.3 kg (18.7 pounds, 1 stone 4.7 pounds, or 8.5 kg since Christmas). My original waist measurement was 45″, and it is now 39.0″. That is a total loss so far of 6.0″ (all rounded to nearest half inch).

Announcing the continuing presence of the incredible (occasionally) changing OJ-ometer!

  1. An 8.5kg loss seems alright to me!

  2. Oh, I’m not complaining about the loss, it’s how long it has taken. What bugs me is that I made a really good start to the year and then got complacent so I spent months staying the same weight. Then I got ill and put weight back on and then had to lose it all over again! Never mind, I’ll get there in the end.

I just want to be able to ride the hills round here at a decent speed without suffering as much as I do. It’s like I’m permanently stuck in bottom gear. My long-term aim is to be able to go to the Alps and the Pyrenees and enjoy riding them. I’ve only done one biggish mountain climb (Puerto de Tudons – a 1,000 m climb near Bendiform on the Costa Blanca) and that always has my back in knots and my legs like jelly by the top.
