  1. I’m glad that the weight has started to shift again. I’ve recently experienced a bit of a plateau, and only just got it shifting again. Just have to try and maintain it through the onset of bad weather and maintain the habit.
Been enjoying the blog over the last couple of months since I’ve added (reintroduced) cycling to my life. Thank you.

  2. Hi Martin.

I took another 6 weeks off the beer and that made a big difference. I’m trying to keep it down to once or twice a week now.

Yes, this time of year can be difficult. Every time I let things slip in the winter, I spend most of the following year trying to get back to where I’d been the previous autumn. The two winters that I carried on exercising and watching my diet were followed by my best springs/summers ever. It’s really important not to let things slip. but it is so easily done!

It’s great that you are back into cycling. If you haven’t already found some cycling partners, I’d really recommend that you do. I don’t know if you’ve taken a look at the CycleChat forum? It’s well worth a look. I’ve slowly got to know a group of other cyclists from the forum who turn out for my local rides. It gets me out on longer, harder rides more often than I’d bother to do by myself. If nobody is arranging rides in your area, get yourself some maps (or use an online mapping site such as Bikely) and get plotting!

I’d also recommend audax rides. You can find events that are as hard or as easy as you want and most of the riders I’ve met on my local events are very friendly.

Good luck with your weight loss, and get the miles in!
