A Little Ride To Test My Lungs

I'm slowly getting my strength back from the mystery bug a.k.a. the snotless cold! I'm so used to having a runny nose when I have a cold that it feels really odd not to have one when many of the other cold symptoms are there.

I waited until my pulse rate and my temperature settled back down to normal, and the jelly-legs feeling had gone. I waited a few days more to be on the safe side but then I could stand being cooped up on sunny days no longer…

So, at long last I got my bike out and went for a very leisurely ride on my favourite local loop: Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Cragg Vale, Blackstone Edge, A58, Blue Ball Lane, undulating lanes to Hubberton Green, Scout Road, Mytholmroyd and back to Hebden Bridge again. I did a quick trip 'round the block' to get my distance up to exactly 20 miles.

It had been fun being out on the bike again, but I felt very unfit and I was still wheezing quite badly at times so I didn't make any really hard efforts.

I reckon it'll be at least another week until my chest fully clears, by which time another CycleChat forum ride to Waddington will be coming up again.
