Road Ride – Heights Road, Blackstone Edge

It was a fine sunny day, temperatures about 10-12 degrees C and I fancied getting out on the road bike again so I decided to do a figure-of-8 route totalling about 40 km (25 miles). The route: Hebden Bridge, Pecket Well, Old Town, Heights Road, Midgley, Luddenden Foot, Boulder Clough, High Stones Hill, Turkey Lodge, [...]

Progress Report – Week 62

Yet another quiet week – half a pound on through beer drinking, and half a pound back off in one stroll and a hard, hilly 51 mile ride. I’m still stuck at 14 stone 13.1 pounds (209.1 pounds, 94.8 kg). The OJ-ometer still shows a total loss of 6 litres of OJ! It’s not long [...]

Road Ride – Sourhall, Cross Stone Road

I received a message last week from trio25, a fellow CycleChat forum member who wondered if I fancied organising another hilly forum ride. Trio is in training for a race and wanted to get some hilly miles in, and I am keen to get fit again so it seemed like a great idea. I posted [...]

Stroll – Mytholmroyd

I went for a quick stroll with Lisa and Maisie today out along the Calder Valley Cycleway and back along the Rochdale canal towpath. It was a lovely day and it should have been a fine walk but yet again we discovered that long stretches of the path were covered in dog crap. Somebody has [...]

Progress Report – Week 61

I completely forgot to post a progress report last week, not that there was any progress to report – I actually gained a fraction of a pound but at least I managed to get in a stroll and a road bike ride. Not enough, but better than the week before that. I had a better [...]

Stroll – Heptonstall Quarry

After yesterday’s grey drizzly day, I woke up today to beautiful blue skies! There was lots to do today, but I couldn’t resist going out for an hour for a quick stroll. I decided to walk up to Heptonstall and return to town via Heptonstall Quarry.

Road Ride – Golden Acre Park to Burnsall

The Leeds posse had suggested a ride out their way for a change. It’s about a year since the last one so it was time to make the effort and get out there again. We planned a route from Golden Acre park just north of Leeds out to Burnsall in Wharfedale and back by a [...]

MTB Ride – Lower Gorple

More sunshine today, but despite that I almost stayed in. I am under a lot of pressure to boost my online earnings and am aware of how much time I spend cycling and walking when I could be working. Still, the late winter evenings are long and it is surely better to be cooped up [...]
