2 Strolls – Mytholmroyd; Dodd Naze
This is the first post of 2010, one year after I started this blog. I’ll have more to say about that on Monday when I write the Week 52 ‘progress report’, but for now I’ll just mention a couple of strolls that I did today with Lisa…
Maisie and Mal are stopping at Maisie’s grandmother’s house in Dodd Naze and had invited Lisa and I up for a meal this evening. We decided to stroll over to the Sainsbury’s store in Mytholmroyd to buy a bottle of red wine to take with us.
We walked out on the Calder Valley Cycleway, and back on the Rochdale canal towpath.
Slightly slippery conditions underfoot, but a nice afternoon for walking. 3.7 miles (6 km) in total.
This evening we walked up to Dodd Naze via the steep road through Birchcliffe. Too steep for Lisa – she was panting and walking slowly so I got behind her and pushed her up the hill. She stopped panting and I started! Never mind – it’s all good exercise innit?
We had a nice meal with the ‘young uns’, followed by a long game of Trivial Pursuit which I won’t say much about, other than to brag about mention the fact that Lisa and I won, oh, and that I answered more questions correctly than Lisa…
We did a quick wine-fuelled stroll back down the hill at the end of the evening.
1.6 miles total with 300 ft of steep ascent (2.6 km, 90 m).
